'The ball is over' - Cardinale says after Delon's death

(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 18 - Italian film legend Claudia Cardinale paid homage to French actor Alain Delon, her co-star in Luchino Visconti's The Leopard (Il Gattopardo) who has died aged 88, telling ANSA that "the ball is over", evoking an iconic scene in the movie in which the celebrated pair danced.
    Citing their characters' names in the 1963 movie, Cardinale said "Tancredi has risen to dance with the stars - forever your Angelica".
    The actress added "sadness is too intense" for words.
    Delon's children announced his death in a statement on Sunday.
