(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 27 - After a brief respite with
thunderstorms and a slight drop in temperatures, Italy will
register a fresh heatwave on Thursday, according to forecasts.
Temperatures are expected to peak across the peninsula reaching
34-35°C, particularly in the Centre and South, with constant
36°C peaks in Rome, and 38-39°C to be registered in Sardinia,
Sicily and Basilicata.
However, strong storms have been forecast on Tuesday from the
North to the Centre-South: after an unstable night across
northern Italy, in fact, storms are expected to hit the
Apennines as well as the majority of central and southern
regions, forecasts said.
Wednesday is expected to be more stable with thunderstorms only
expected in mountainous areas, in particular in the Apennines
and in Sicily.
Thursday will be particularly hot and sunny, forecasts said.
