(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 27 - Defence Minister Guido Crosetto and
his Japanese counterpart Kihara Minoru held talks "to discuss
bilateral cooperation, which has now become a strategic
partnership", the ministry wrote on X Tuesday.
The ministers stressed their "joint commitment" for the Global
Combat Air Program GCAP promoted by Italy, Great Britain and
Japan to develop a next-generation combat aircraft by 2035, and
"Indo-Pacific security", according to the post.
"Great appreciation" was also expressed for the tour of the
Amerigo Vespucci, the historic sailing ship and training ship of
the Italian Navy which reached the port of Tokyo in its first
visit to Japan, and "the commitment of the Italian naval group
in Japan", the ministry said on X. (ANSA).
