Man arrested by police for allegedly abusing niece

(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 5 - A 45-year-old man has been placed under house arrest in the southern city of Benevento on charges of sexually abusing his 15-year-old niece, judicial sources said Thursday.
    The arrest warrant was issued by a preliminary investigation judge (GIP) at the request of local prosecutor Aldo Policastro.
    The teen's father, who is the suspect's brother, reported the alleged violence to Carabinieri police.
    The 15-year-old, who was staying with her uncle for the holidays, wrote to her mother on WhatsApp right after the alleged rape, calling for help, the sources said.
    The teen was then reached by her parents and Carabinieri police who found her in tears, they explained. (ANSA).
