(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 11 - The leaders of the ruling coalition,
Premier Giorgia Meloni, Deputy Premier and Transport Minister
Matteo Salvini, Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio
Tajani, and Maurizio Lupi announced in a joint statement on
Wednesday that the centre-right candidate for Liguria governor
is Marco Bucci, the current mayor of Genoa.
The regional elections in Liguria, to be held after former
governor Giovanni Toti stepped down over a corruption probe, are
scheduled to take place on October 27-28.
Bucci's main rival will be former justice minister Andrea
Orlando who is backed by a broad centre-left coalition. (ANSA).
