(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 14 - An Italian priest cum footballer says
that soccer is a mission for him too.
"Mass is the heart of Sunday for me but I play in the afternoon
when I get the time," said Don Francesco Ametta, 29, deputy
parish priest at San Martino in Rio near Reggio Emilia and a
striker for the local Sammartinese team, competing in
Promozione, the sixth tier of Italian football and the third
amateur level.
Ametta scored his first goal "a record for a priest" in an
Italian Cup tie against Bagnolese last Wednesday but
Sammartinese still went down to a 3-2 defeat.
"Sadly is wasn't enough but it was a big thrill, almost as good
as religion," he said.
"Soccer is another mission for me". (ANSA).
