(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 27 - A 26-year-old woman on Friday was
critically injured after another woman doused her with
inflammable liquid and set her on fire during a fight in
Catania.
The victim was receiving treatment in the intensive care unit of
the local Cannizzaro Hospital after suffering 20% burns on her
face, neck, arms and chest during the attack which took place in
the middle of a street in the Sicilian city.
The 26-year-old is being followed by specialists from the
hospital's burns unit.
Sources close to the probe said that the attack might have been
connected to a prior fight over the phone between two minors.
In particular, according to the Catania police flying squad
investigating the case, the two girls had fought over a boy they
were both interested in.
The police are trying to determine the dynamic of the attack and
whether it was premeditated. (ANSA).
