Ryanair plane's engine catches fire in Brindisi

184 passengers evacuated; Salento airport reopens after incident

(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 3 - The engine of a Ryanair plane that was preparing to take off from the Puglia airport of Brindisi for Turin caught fire on Thursday morning and the 184 passengers and crew members had to be evacuated down the emergency slides.
    Nobody was injured.
    The airport in Salento closed temporarily before it reopened following the incident, which took place while the plane was on the runway preparing for takeoff.
    Two days ago, Bergamo's Oro al Serio international airport was shut down when the tires of another Ryanair flight landing from Barcelona burst, damaging the runway. (ANSA).
