(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 18 - Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni in a
note late Thursday commented the death of Hamas leader Yahya
Sinwar, considered to be the main mastermind behind the October
7, 2023 attacks, calling for a "new phase".
"My conviction is that a new phase needs to start now", said
Meloni.
"It is time for all the hostages to be released, for an
immediate ceasefire to be called and for the reconstruction of
Gaza to start", the premier said in the note.
"We will continue to support with determination every effort in
this direction and the resumption of a serious and credible
political process which leads to a two-State solution", added
the note. (ANSA).
