(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 19 - The government is expected to approve
a decree on Monday, which would become effective the following
day, as the "solution" mentioned by Premier Giorgia Meloni on
Friday after the decision of a Rome court not to validate the
detention of 12 migrants at a newly opened Italian-run centre in
Gjader, Albania, on the grounds that the migrants' countries of
provenance, Bangladesh and Egypt, are not safe.
Government sources said the decree should, among other things,
establish a list of safe countries as a legal provision and not
as part of a decree of the foreign ministry which updates the
list on an annual basis, in agreement with the interior and
justice ministries.
