'Government moves on budget, the rest unacceptable'

(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 19 - Labour Union CGIL Secretary General Maurizio Landini on Saturday said he "absolutely thinks" that an ongoing mobilization will lead to a general strike.
"As CGIL we have already received this mandate from the general assembly and I am proposing it to other unions", said Landini, answering to a question on a general strike at a demonstration on public employment organized with labour union UIL.
"The moves the government is making, not only on the budget law, but also beyond, are unacceptable", he said, referring in particular to "precarious" working conditions and to a security decree which "actually questions the right to demonstrate", he said.
"I think about the economic and social policies of this government", added Landini, considering them "wrong".
On Friday, metalworkers with Italian-French carmaker Stellantis and the entire automotive sector held a strike organized by the main metalworkers' unions Fim, Fiom and Uilm to defend employment in the sector and relaunch the future of the automotive industry in Italy, unions said.. (ANSA).
