(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 22 - About 10 police officers have been
placed under investigation for allegedly heavy handed policing
of a pro-Palestinian rally in Pisa in February, police unions
said Tuesday.
The Pisa prosecutor's office is probing what happened on
February 23 when there were allegedly over-enthusiastic baton
charges against students during the march.
Possible criminal charges range from negligent excess of
self-defense to negligent minor injuries, union sources said.
Among the officers under investigation are said to be officers
from the Florence flying squad, and also those responsible for
the security enforcement in the square.
After the demonstration, seven police officers on duty in the
square on the day of the clashes had identified themselves,
informing the prosecutor's office. (ANSA).
