'Cassation to decide location of Santanchè's fraud trial'

After request filed by Milan preliminary hearings judge

Redazione Ansa

(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 23 - Italy's supreme Cassation Court will rule whether the trial of Tourism Minister Daniela Santanchè for aggravated fraud against INPS social security and pensions agency on the lay-off fund during the COVID period in the Visibilia case, the group founded by the ruling Brothers of Italy (FdI) senator and from which she divested herself of offices and shares in 2022, will remain in Milan or whether it will be moved to Rome.
The Cassation will have to rule on the trial's territorial jurisdiction after a decision taken by Milan preliminary hearings judge (GUP) Tiziana Gueli, based on requests presented by defence attorneys at the preliminary hearing, judicial sources said Wednesday. Santanchè and two other people, including her life partner Dimitri Kunz, and two companies are accused of aggravated fraud against INPS for drawing on COVID redundancy funds for staff at her Visibilia group while they were in fact allegedly working.
Santanchè is also involved in other probes connected to Visibilia, including alleged money laundering and alleged fraudulent bankruptcy. (ANSA).
