(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 23 - A fresh bad-weather alert has been
issued for Sicily, Sardinia, Tuscany, Lazio and Emilia Romagna,
forecasters said Wednesday.
More bad weather is forecast in the centre-north from Wednesday
through Friday and the situation will worsen over the weekend
with strong cloudbursts hitting Liguria and Piedmont.
In the South, however, sunny conditions will prevail with
temperatures rising above 26-27°C, said Lorenzo Tedici,
meteorologist for the website www.iLMeteo.it.
"During the next few hours the bad weather will definitively
abandon Sicily and Calabria, moving north. Heavy rain is
forecast in Sardinia, especially in the south and east, and
towards the Tyrrhenian regions of the Center and in Emilia
Romagna", said Tedici.
The areas most affected by the showers will be the coastal ones
between Upper Lazio, Tuscany and the Emilian Apennines.
On Thursday "the turbulence will still rage on Tuscany and the
Northeast," he said.
Friday 25th, on the other hand, "will be characterized by an
anomalous heat with maximums that will locally exceed 26°C.
"The above average temperatures will be accompanied, however, by
a further worsening of conditions in some areas.
"Intense showers are expected in Western Liguria, Piedmont and
then Lombardy, Eastern Liguria and once again in Tuscany,
especially in Versilia and the Apuan Alps.
"Over the weekend there is a weather alert for persistent
phenomena, even potentially flooding, in the North-West regions,
especially Liguria.
