(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 23 - Two students running for election in
the school board of Rome's Montessori Lycée with far-right list
'Riscatto' (Redemption) were photographed giving the Fascist
salute in class, a student group denounced on Wednesday,
claiming the list was connected to neo-fascist youth
organization Generazione Popolare.
"This is not an isolated case", said the left-leaning Rete
Studenti Medi di Roma, the largest group of high school students
in the capital.
"The same list, in fact, is connected to neo-Fascist youth
organization Generazione Popolare" and is "present in other
schools in the city with lists running for school boards which
are apparently anonymous and apolitical" but "hide a neo-Fascist
ideology", they said.
Meanwhile the school principal Anna Maria De Luca said she was
evaluating disciplinary action.
However, she told ANSA that she "personally spoke with the pair
who assured me they do not belong to Fascist organizations and
that they did not fully consider the meaning and possible
consequences of their action". (ANSA).
