(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 24 - Over 140,000 retailers have shut down
in Italy between 2014 and 2024, including nearly 46,500 local
stores such as bars, newsstands and food stores, retailers'
association Confesercenti warned on Thursday in its dossier
"Trade and services: oases in urban centres".
Confesercenti denounced that over 26 million Italians live in
municipalities where at least one essential local enterprise has
closed for good.
Overall, between 2014 and 2024 a reported 46,500 local
neighbourhood stores have closed, on average nearly 13 a day,
said the retailers' association. (ANSA).
