(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 25 - A Campanian criminal on Italy's most
dangerous fugitives list who allegedly acted as a go-between
between Colombian cocaine cartels and the Neapolitan Camorra
mafia was arrested overnight in Colombia.
Luigi Belvedere was captured in Medellin.
He had been wanted since December 2020 and included in the list
of dangerous fugitives of the Ministry of the Interior.
Belvedere has been definitively sentenced for international drug
trafficking and for acting as an intermediary between the
Colombian cartels and some clans of the Casalesi Camorra cartel.
The Casalesi are a powerful clan based at Casal di Principe
whose death threats forced anti-mafia writer Roberto Saviano
into police protection.
Belvedere is due to serve a sentence of 18 years, 9 months and
20 days of imprisonment, as well as an additional term for
international drug trafficking. (ANSA).
