(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 25 - Cases of stalking, domestic abuse and
sexual violence against women are on the rise in Italy,
according to figures released by the criminal analysis service
of the central police department Monday on the International Day
for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
In the first six months of 2024, a 6% growth was reported in
stalking cases - which affected women in 74% of the reported
incidents - and a 15% rise in domestic abuse, concerning women
in 81% of cases, the survey found.
Cases of sexual violence also rose by 8%, according to the
figures released on Monday.
In 91% of instances the victims were women, of whom 28% were
under 18 years of age and 77% were Italian citizens. (ANSA).
