(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 25 - Three i an increasingly higher incidence of immigrants as perpetrators of rapes in Italy, Premier Giorgia Meloni said Monday saying that she might be called a racist but the phenomenon stemmed from the "degeneration of those who have nothing".
"Now I will be called racist, but there is a higher incidence, unfortunately, in cases of sexual violence, by immigrants, especially illegally.
Because, clearly, when you have nothing, a degeneration occurs that can lead anywhere", Meloni, said in an interview with women's weekly Donna Moderna.
She cited, among the "very important signals" of the government to guarantee greater safety for women, "the hiring and treatment of the police to fight crimes because those also serve to combat the rampant insecurity in our cities.
"And then there is the issue of combating mass illegal immigration", she said. (ANSA).
