(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 23 - Venice Mayor Luigi Brugnaro on Monday
signed a order restricting alcohol sales on New Year's Eve in a
measure designed to protect people's safety and ensure the
events planned in the city take place in security.
Shops will not be able to sell alcohol from 19:00 on December 31
to 6:00 on January 1.
People are also banned from carrying and consuming drinks,
including alcoholic ones, in public places.
The is a ban of people carrying pepper spray around with them
too.
Failure to comply could lead to fines of between 25 and 500
euros. (ANSA).
