(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 30 - One person is dead after four German tourists were poisoned by carbon dioxide from the fireplace of their rented holiday home in Sicily early Monday morning.
    The tragedy happened at a villa in Cefalù, in the Palermo area.
    The man who died was 36.
    The other three, two women, one 34, the other 60, and a 63-year-old man, were taken to hospital in code red to undergo hyperbaric chamber treatments.
    Their conditions are serious.
    Firefighters found the chimney of the villa still full of smoke.
    Most likely, it was the fumes coming from the embers that caused the poisoning. (ANSA).
