22-year-old says she was raped at NYE party

(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 2 - A 22-year-old woman said she was raped during a New Year's Eve party, in the bathroom of the Magnolia club in Milan's Idroscalo area, the local edition of daily newspaper Il Giorno reported on Thursday.
    The young woman, who lives in a suburban area near Milan and is of Latin American origin, went to the club with a group of friends to join a party called "We love 2000" organized to ring in the New Year, according to the newspaper.
    During the evening, the young woman reportedly met a youth whom she described as being of North African origin.
    She said the young man raped her in one of the club's bathrooms and fled.
    The 22-year-old was treated at the local Mangiagalli Hospital.
    Carabinieri police have started investigating the incident and reported the alleged rape to the State attorney's office for the activation of the red-code procedure to protect women from violence, investigative sources said. (ANSA).
