Gay couple assaulted by youths in Rome at NYE

(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 2 - A gay couple, one of them from Peru, was allegedly assaulted as they walked hand in hand in Rome on New Year's Eve, sources said Thursday.
    The two young men were physically attacked with punches and kicks while also being verbally insulted with gay slurs, Gaynet said.
    The incident comes just days after a similar one in Milan, said the gay group.
    It cited European data showing that 53% of gay couples are still afraid of walking hand in hand. (ANSA).
