One dies on impact, the other critical in hospital

(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 7 - Two Albanian-Italian sisters aged 32 and 36 fell from an apartment window in an apparent suicide bid by the first and a rescue effort by the second in Genoa Tuesday morning, local sources said.
The younger woman jumped and the older one reportedly lost her footing while trying to save her sister, shortly before eight a. m., sources said.
The younger sister died on impact while the elder one is critical in hospital.
The 32-year-old's four children were in the flat when the incident happened, police said.
Neighbours said she was in the process of splitting from her Albanian Muslim husband, whom she had reported for domestic abuse. A restraining order against him had recently expired.
There is speculation that she decided to jump due to fears she would lose a custody battle for the kids.
She left a message on social media saying "God I am waiting for you".
According to family sources, the man forced his wife to wear the Islamic veil and prevented her from driving alone, restrictions she chafed against.
A custody hearing was scheduled for this Friday, January 10.
