1 convicted, 25 acquitted in Novara-area 'sect of beasts'

(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 10 - One person was convicted and 25 acquitted in the case of a so-called 'sect of beasts' alleged rape gang near Novara on Friday.
    Thee convicted man was sentenced to six years in jail for sexual violence.
    When the sentence was read, two of the three girls who had described the alleged abuse in a villa in the Ticino woods burst into tears.
    The alleged sexual violence dates back to the spring of 2012 and the trial, behind closed doors, began in February 2023, following the complaint of a woman who was a minor at the time of the crime.
    Some of the alleged crimes have timed out, while for others judges aid there was no case to answer. (ANSA).
