(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 12 - Israel's Ambassador to Italy Jonathan
Peled on Sunday expressed solidarity to the Jewish community of
Bologna after the Emilia Romagna city's synagogue was vandalized
the previous night following a protest against the death of Ramy
Elgaml, the 19-year-old Italo-Egyptian Milan resident who died
on November 24 in a scooter accident while being chased by the
Carabinieri police.
"I express my closeness and solidarity to the Jewish community
of Bologna, following the attacks carried out against the local
Synagogue", the ambassador wrote on X.
"A grave anti-Semitic attack, which must be condemned with
absolute firmness", he wrote. (ANSA).
