Govt not fleeing Parliament on Almasri says Ciriani

(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 4 - The government is not fleeing Parliament nor deferring to report on the case of freed Libyan general Osama Almasri and Justice Minister Carlo Nordio along with Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi will be able to provide adequate answers to MPs, the Minister for Relations with Parliament Luca Ciriani said Tuesday.
    Earlier, parliamentary sources announced that Nordio and Piantedosi will be reporting to the Lower House at 12:15 on Wednesday.
    "The government is not fleeing Parliament, there is no dilatory intention", the report will be given by "two very important ministers" who will be "able to provide adequate answers", said Ciriani.
    Asked about Premier Giorgia Meloni personally referring to Parliament on a separate occasion, as repeatedly requested by the centre-left opposition, Ciriani replied: "There are two ministers who are able to guarantee utmost information". Meanwhile, parliamentary sources said the House session will not be broadcast live on television, a decision taken during a meeting of party whips.
    The live broadcast, requested by opposition members, needs a unanimous vote to be approved.
    Ciriani said "someone in the majority did not agree" with the decision. (ANSA).
