Cattelan's Hitler auctions for 17.1 mln

Controversial 2001 sculpture one of 39 artworks sold

(ANSA) - New York, May 9 - 'Him', the controversial 2001 sculpture of a kneeling Adolf Hitler by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan, sold at auction for a record 17.1 million dollars on Sunday. The 1985 sculpture 'One Ball Total Equilibrium Tank' by Jeff Koons depicting a basketball suspended inside a vitrine of distilled water also sold at the Christie's auction for just under 15.3 million dollars.
    In total the specially curated sale titled 'Bound to Fail' raked in over 78 million dollars with 39 artworks sold.
