(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 28 - Paolo Sorrentino came up short in his
bid to win a second Oscar overnight after his movie E' Stata la
Mano Di Dio (It Was The Hand Of God) was beaten to the best
international film prize at the Academy Awards by Drive My Car
by Japanese director Ryusuke Hamaguchi .
Sorrentino's film is bittersweet semi-autobiographical
coming-of-age tale in Argentine soccer legend Diego Maradona's
Naples.
The Naples-born director won the 2013 best foreign film Oscar
for La Grande Bellezza (The Great Beauty).
Italy's two other contenders at the Oscars also came away empty
handed.
Massimo Cantini Parrini, who was in the running in the best
costumes category for Cyrano, was beaten by Jenny Beavan for
Crudelia.
Enrico Casarosa's Luca was beaten to the best animated picture
price by the favourite, Encanto. (ANSA).
