(ANSA) - ROME, JUL 12 - Iconic former AS Roma captain and
2006 World Cup winner Francesco Totti is splitting from his wife
of 20 years, TV presenter and personality Ilary Blasi, the
couple said on social media Monday night confirming
long-swirling rumours.
"After 20 years together my marriage is over; I urge people to
avoid speculation and to respect my family's privacy," the
41-year-old showgirl, who has had three children with Totti
since their marriage in 2005, told ANSA.
Totti, 45, who won the SerieA title with his only club Roma in
2001, said "I tried to overcome the crisis but our separation,
albeit painful, is inevitable".
The couple's fairytale wedding and their rise to become one of
Italy's strongest media power couples have fed gossip magazines
for more than two decades. (ANSA).
