(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 27 - An Ancient Roman statue of Hercules has emerged from work to repair the sewage system of a park in the Italian capital.
The Appia Antica Park said on Facebook that "Parco Scott has reserved a great surprise for us; a life-size marble statue which, due to the presence of the club and the lion's coat covering its head, we can certainly identify with a figure representing Hercules".
The find was made at around the second mile mark of the ancient Appian Way, the famed historic road which is applying for UNESCO status. (ANSA).
