Puccini Festival sacks conductor over blindfold protest

Alberto Veronesi threatens legal action

(ANSA) - ROME, JUL 17 - The Puccini Festival in the Tuscan town of Torre del Lago has said it has sacked conductor Alberto Veronesi after he performed at Friday's opening night of a production of La Boheme blindfolded to protest at the set.
    The festival said Manlio Benzi will conduct the performances scheduled for July 29 and August 10 and 25.
    Veronesi said he would turn up for work at the next scheduled show and threatened to take legal action if he is not allowed to perform. (ANSA).
