(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 6 - This week's Sanremo Song Festival will
welcome farmers protesting against EU Green policies, falling
prices, rising costs and general hardship, host and organiser
Amadeus insisted Tuesday despite Rai state broadcaster's
stressing Monday night that there had been no contact with the
protest leaders and suggesting that any such contact would be
rebuffed.
"I have opened the doors, and I am not going back," said the
showman ahead of Tuesday's opening night of the jamboree that
ends Saturday night.
"If there is someone who would like to be there, I welcome them,
there is no change of mind from yesterday on my part."
However, he specified that he had so far not received any
request from any of the farmers groups to bring their tractors
to the Ligurian riviera resort town.
"No one has called me. If there is someone who will contact Rai,
let them know who the people are or the person who wants to be
there, we will absolutely consider it". (ANSA).
