(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 7 - Italian pianist and composer Giovanni Allevi said ahead of his appearance at the Sanremo Song Festival Wednesday night that was living in the present having no certainty about the future following a 2022 diagnosis with multiple myeloma, a chronic blood cancer.
"When there is no longer certainty about the future, you have to live the present more intensely," said the 54-year-old from Ascoli Piceno.
"It's like I've snatched a handful of years from my end and I want to live them as intensely as possible.
"I'm not here to celebrate anything," he says in a calm but not resigned voice.
"Unfortunately, myeloma is a chronic cancer, so it's a battle that can never be won.
"My presence here is meant to signify the immense joy of living in the present.
"And then, if I can, to give some strength and hope to the other patients." (ANSA).
