(ANSA) - ROME, APR 16 - Fortunato Ortombina, the current CEO
of Venice's La Fenice theatre, is going to be the new
superintendent of La Scala, Milan Mayor Giuseppe Sala announced
on Tuesday after the opera house's board of directors voted on
the nomination, ending months of wrangling about the
appointment.
The current superintendent, Dominique Meyer, will remain in the
position until August 1, 2025.
Ortombina will become 'nominated superintendent' in September
this year.
Director of Music Riccardo Chailly will stay on until 2026, when
Daniele Gatti is set to come in.
"We have done everything for the good of La Scala, for dignity
and fairness," Sala said, explaining that Meyer's contract will
be extended from 28 February, 2025, to August 1, 2025. (ANSA).
