(ANSA) - ROME, APR 26 - Italian actress and director Valeria
Golino will be presenting her adaptation of Goliarda Sapienza's
historical novel, The Art of Joy (L'arte della Gioia), at a
special event at this year's Cannes Film Festival.
The adaptation, starring Jasmine Trinca, Tecla Insolia and
Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi, was originally shot as a TV series, but
it is set to be screened at Italian cinemas.
The first episode will be shown at Cannes 2024 between May 14
and 25.
Golino, who is best known to international audiences for her
roles in Rain Man and in the Hot Shots! franchise, has taken two
of the films she directed to Cannes - Miele in 2013, and Euforia
in 2018, both in the Un Certain Regard section.
The story of a woman's pursuit of cultural, financial and sexual
independence in early-20th-century Sicily, The Art of Joy was
not published until after Sapienza's death in 1996. (ANSA).
