Circus Maximus sold out for six Gilmour gigs,80% out of Rome

(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 26 - The Circus Maximus is sold out for six dates by ex Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour starting Friday and 80% of the tickets have been bought outside Rome - 33% from abroad and 47% from the rest of Italy, a Rome city councillor said Thursday.
    "Ninety thousand spectators at the Circus Maximus for David Gilmour's sole six dates in continental Europe," said councilor for Major Events of Rome Capital Alessandro Onorato. "We are happy that, from Friday 27 September, the great artist will be in Rome to give the city unique shows".
    "Reservations are sold out and only 20% of those who bought tickets are Roman - he added - 33% will come from abroad, especially from Germany, France and the United Kingdom, 47% from the rest of Italy.
    "These are important numbers for the city and demonstrate how major events, sporting, concert and cultural, are a driving force for the economy thanks to significant economic benefits and new jobs.
    "The choice of the former Pink Floyd guitarist to come to Rome to present his latest album 'Luck and Strange', preferring it to other European cities is the objective proof of how this city has become increasingly attractive and sought-after abroad.
    "It is a prestigious recognition of the strategy of major events that we have embraced since day one with Mayor (Roberto) Gualtieri". (ANSA).
