(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 8 - Two pages from the first edition of
the Divine Comedy were found during the transfer of the State
Archives of La Spezia.
Mayor Pierluigi Peracchini announced the find in the local
edition of 'Il Secolo XIX', explaining that "these are two
authentic pages from the cantos of Purgatory and Paradise from
the first edition of the Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri, we
are obviously talking about the 14th century and the original of
the Pax Dantis".
"It is an extraordinary fact, the discovery of a treasure of
inestimable value," the mayor commented.
"Now we intend to soon identify a path with the Ministry of
Culture for an exhibition. The Pax Dantis, which concluded the
war between the Malaspina and the bishops of Luni, is an
absolute and unpublished treasure that had never been spoken of
in the history of our city.
"Like the remains of the Divine Comedy. It is an extraordinary
fact and of absolute importance for our city and for our
culture". (ANSA).
