(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 8 - A woman tripped over and hit a 16th-century painting by Italian Renaissance artist Moretto on show at Brescia's Santa Giulia complex on Friday, tearing it, local newspaper Bresciaoggi reported on Saturday. The painting was not hung on a wall but placed at the entrance to one of the sections of the show as it is a standard to be carried at processions with art on the front and the back.
On one side there are two unidentified saints, while the other features the Virgin Mary with two disciples at her feet.
The damage is said to be significant. (ANSA).
