(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 28 - Former Gucci designer Alessandro
Michele was named Valentino's creative director Thursday
replacing Pierpaolo Piccioli who stepped down as the maison's
chief stylist earlier this month.
The iconic Italian fashion house said Michele would take up the
post as of 2 April.
It said: "In his new role, Alessandro Michele will be based in
Rome, the creative heart of the maison and the city where it was
founded in 1960.
"This moment marks the beginning of a new journey aimed at
ensuring that the brand's unique values, heritage and couture
codes continue to shine in the world through Alessandro
Michele's extraordinary perspective and rich experience."
