(ANSA) - Rome, April 28 - Farm association Coldiretti on
Thursday sounded the alarm over Italian-sounding foreign
knock-offs of classic Italian food products.
In a dossier compiled with the NAS food police, Coldireti
warned against all the clones that contrive to push genuine
Italian products off the shelves.
Prime examples were, from Slovenia, Kapeleti and
Mortadela; from Romania, Parmezali; from Portugal, Milaneza
pasta; and from Netherlands, 'Carpaccio formaggio'.
The survey was carried out in supermarkets in major
foreign cities.
It found that two out of three Italian-sounding products
were fake.
