(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 22 - Italians spent 66 billion euros on
eating out in the first half of 2023, up 14% on the same period
last year, according to data presented on Friday ahead of Host,
the Professional Catering and Hospitality Exhibition at Fiera
Milano from October 13 to 17.
The study by Circana showed that only 1 in 10 consumers said
they had experienced difficulty eating out due to the
cost-of-living crisis, while the majority said they had not
changed their habits.
The study also highlighted the growth of a sense of community
among consumers, with 72% expecting restaurants to be inclusive
and to also cater to those on special diets or with special
dietary needs.
On the digital front, 40% of consumers reported enjoying the
experience of eating out more thanks to the use of apps and
