(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 30 - Italian New Year's Eve home dinners
will cost about 2% more this year than last due to the high
price of clams, the key ingredient of the spaghetti with clams
that is the biggest festive favourite, Coldiretti said Saturday
on data from the Ixè market research company.
The media household spend on the dinners will be 98 euros, the
farm group said.
Some 87% of Italians will have their dinners in theirs or
friends and relatives' homes, it said, while 4.6 million will
eat out in restaurants and pizzerias and a further 350,000 in
agriturismos.
About a third will keep spending down below 50 euros a family
while 23% will spend between 50 and 100 and 20% will reach 150
euros, the survey said.
The richest tables will be in the south of Italy, it said.
