(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 27 - Venice police chiefs on Wednesday
issued two ordinances aimed at stemming the arrival of cars and
people on New Year's Eve, when demand to see the traditional
monster fireworks display is high in the lagoon city.
One of the moves will block traffic into Piazzale Roma, the
city's main road access point, while the other envisages the
possibility of setting up a pedestrian one-way system along the
calli.
The measures will be in force from seven o'clock on New year's
Eve until five am on New Year's Day. (ANSA).
