(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 1 - The city of Rome has set up a large
tub in front of the Trevi Fountain to enable visitors to throw
in their coins after the iconic monument was emptied of water
for restoration work.
According to custom, if you throw a coin into the fountain you
will return to the Eternal City.
Around 12,000 people visit it every day.
The restoration started on October 7 and is set to continue
until the end of the year.
Transparent panels have been put around the fountain to seal the
area off during the restoration while, at the same time,
enabling visitors to see it. (ANSA).
