(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, 26 GIU - After the stop at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, the Italian Embassy in Washington will host an exhibition celebrating the history and values of the Italian Navy from 28 June to 11 July 2024. The exhibition, entitled 'Ocean Stories. The Italian Navy exhibition', co-organised by the Italian Navy and the Italian Embassy in Washington, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute, offers a multimedia and immersive itinerary, conceived and realised by Magister Art, a creative and cultural industry for the valorisation of the country's assets.
The heart of the exhibition is dedicated to the Amerigo Vespucci school ship, defined by the American aircraft carrier USS Independence, in a historic meeting, as the "most beautiful ship in the world", whose navigation becomes a metaphor for a universal tale: the vessel is not only an ambassador of Italy in the world, but a bearer of values such as equality among peoples, inclusion, education education, solidarity and welcome. You can virtually explore the spaces of the Amerigo Vespucci School Ship thanks to a virtual three-dimensional reproduction created by the University of Florence, and at the same time admire its physical model of almost 5 metres in length. On the same days that the exhibition is open, the Amerigo Vespucci is sailing along the Pacific coast of the United States.
The initiative is rounded off with a tribute to the Sailors leading, i.e. the great Navy crew, the people who make up its essence and enhance its human aspect. Through a mosaic of faces, a voice is given to the different professions that make up the MarinaMilitare, from naval professionals to aviators, engineers, shipboard doctors, divers, submariners, incursors and young trainees.
