The 'Moyse 2024' international flute competition in Sofia

(ANSA) - SOFIA, 29 GIU - The Italian Embassy in Bulgaria, the Italian Cultural Institute in Sofia and the New Bulgarian University (NBU), in collaboration with Confindustria Bulgaria, are organising the second edition of the International Flute Competition "MOYSE", scheduled from 28 June to 2 July 2024 in Sofia. This competition, created by NBU Flute PhD Lecturer Luisa Sello, and centred on the representative figures of world flute-making, Marcel and Louis Moyse, aims to expand and develop the already existing friendship between the Italian and Bulgarian institutions and to promote internationally the new generation of performers with their values.
    The first online selection was passed by 78 candidates from the following countries: Armenia, Austria, Bulgaria, China, Colombia, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Iceland, Israel, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Japan, Luxembourg, Poland, Romania, Spain, Slovenia, Switzerland, Taiwan, the Netherlands, England, USA, Venezuela, Vietnam. The winners will receive prizes, benefits and opportunities to perform in concerts.
    The Competition, whose honorary patron is the world-famous flutist James Galway, together with the flutist Lady Jeanne Galway, opened with a public concert in which all the members of the international jury, consisting of Janos Balint, Tadeu Coelho, Guoliang Han, Luisa Sello and Matthias Ziegler, all internationally renowned concert pianists and teachers, performed.
    The masters' concert, part of the prestigious Sofia Music Weeks Festival, will be held on 29 June at the Sofia City Art Gallery.
    All final rehearsals and the prize-giving evening will be streamed on the "MOYSE International Flute Competition" Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/share/aEATMoTDCxP9U95A/?mibextid=LQQJ4d The final evening with the awarding of the prizes and the winners' concert will take place on 2 July at 8 p.m. at the NBU in the presence of the Italian Ambassador, Giuseppina Zarra, the Rector of the New Bulgarian University, Prof. Plamen Doynov, the Head of the Department of Music, Prof. Milena Shushulova, and the Head of the Department of Music, Prof. Dr. Milena Shushulova.ssa Milena Shushulova, the invited authorities, and the sponsors (the company Kuminiano Fruit - one of the world's leading companies in the processing of cherries for industry; the company Christian of Roma - a leader in the distribution of hair products, cosmetics and equipment for beauty salons; the House of Music 'Gatev & Co'). Also present will be the Vice President of the Moyse Society of the USA Christine Moulton, the Italian pianist Serena Klemm for the Klemm Award, who will pay tribute to the life and history of the Swiss flutist Conrad Klemm, and European representatives of Miyazawa Flutes Europe.
