(ANSA) - ROMA, 01 LUG - Giuseppe Seán Coppola took office today as Italian ambassador to Dar-Es-Salaam. This was reported by the Farnesina in a note.
    Born in Lecce on 19 March 1972, Giuseppe Seán Coppola graduated in International and Diplomatic Sciences from the University of Trieste in 1997. Following a competitive examination, he was appointed probationary legationary secretary in the diplomatic career on 29 December 2000. After initial assignments at the Directorate-General for Sub-Saharan African Countries and at the Ministry's Directorate-General for Development Cooperation, in 2003 he took up a post as second commercial secretary in Luanda (Angola).
    In 2006, he was appointed as first commercial secretary at the Permanent Representation of Italy to the European Union in Brussels.
    In 2010, he returned to Rome to take up his post at the Directorate-General for Political Affairs and Security at the Farnesina. In 2012 he took up a position as advisor at the Permanent Representation of Italy to International Organisations in Vienna. In 2016, he is assigned to the functions of counsellor in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia).
    In 2020, he returns to Rome to take up service at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, as diplomatic advisor to the Minister for the South and Territorial Cohesion. In 2021 he returns to the Farnesina to take up a position at the Directorate-General for Administration, Informatics and Communications, with deputy director general and central director for Informatics, Communications and Organisational Wellbeing.
    In 2024 he was appointed Italian Ambassador to the United Republic of Tanzania. In 2013, he was awarded the Knighthood of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
