(ANSA) - SYDNEY, 16 SET - Ambassador Paolo Crudele inaugurated the 'Vico Magistretti - Architecture & Design' exhibition in Sydney on 13 September. The exhibition was organised at the instigation of the Italian Embassy, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute and the Studio Museo Foundation established in memory of the famous Milanese designer.
A leading figure in the panorama of post-war international architecture, Vico Magistretti also gave innovative impetus to industrial design through intense collaboration with the most important furniture manufacturers of his time.
The exhibition proposes a cultural itinerary through images, making use of photographs, original sketches, as well as a selection of objects lent by local dealers, testifying to the strong link with the industrial world and especially with those companies that still have objects designed by him in their catalogues.
"It is an extraordinary opportunity to celebrate art as a process of innovation, experimentation and originality," Ambassador Crudele commented, recalling how such opportunities for integrated promotion reaffirm "the strong cultural ties between Italy and Australia, also declined in the artistic and architectural fields: one of the many examples is the Federal Parliament of Australia, designed by Italian architect Romaldo Giurgola.
