(ANSA) - VILNIUS, 17 SET - On 15 September, the Italian Embassy in Vilnius celebrated the first edition of the Day of Italian Sport in the World by organising a walk along the streets of the historic centre of the Lithuanian capital, discovering 14 of the city's many places linked to Italian art and culture. This was announced by the Italian Embassy in Lithuania.
The participants were accompanied by a tour guide who illustrated each point of interest, enriching the visit with curiosities related to Italian sport.
A special route, entitled 'Traces of Italy', was also created for the occasion for the popular Walk15 app, with descriptions of individual places connected to Italy in the Baltic capital.
The route will allow the thousands of users of the platform to get to know the references of Italianness in Vilnius, enhancing the artistic, cultural and identity legacy of Italians in Lithuania.
At the start of the event, the Italian Ambassador to Vilnius, Emanuele de Maigret, emphasised how sport is not only essential for psychophysical wellbeing, but is also connected to a series of values of which Italy is the bearer in a holistic approach: from health to the Mediterranean diet, from innovation to industry, from value references to the educational role of young people.
